Street work continues across Emporia through an individual project and a larger, city-wide project.
The annual Street Rehab program will have asphalt paving work Thursday and Friday — maybe into early next week — on Whildin from 6th to 12th. Only southbound traffic will be allowed during the construction period. Northbound drivers are asked to detour to Peyton to move around the work zone. The city also says access to driveways will be closed for between 45-90 minutes at a time as hot mix asphalt is put down.
Separately, 24th Avenue is now closed to thru traffic between Prairie and Greenbriar Estates for road work. Construction began Wednesday. The street will be closed for up to 2 weeks.
