Area residents may have some strong to severe storms by late afternoon or evening.
There is a marginal severe weather risk for much of northeast, east-central and central Kansas. Wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail to the size of quarters are the main concerns.
The Storm Prediction Center is looking at activity as soon as late afternoon, although the National Weather Service Topeka office doesn’t list any potential storm activity until before sunrise Saturday, although there is some forecast variability, depending on the model being used. Regardless, storms should end shortly after sunrise before possibly returning Sunday afternoon through very early Monday. No severe weather is expected for the back half of the upcoming weekend.
