The Emporia State soccer team gave up the lead with less than seven minutes to go in a 1-1 tie at Drury to open up the 2026 season on Thursday. ESU tallied first just over 18 minutes into the match when Megan Kephart got the Black & Gold on the board on an assist from Avery Zimmerman. Drury’s goal with just under seven to play in the match was the only other score in the game. The Lady Hornets outshot Drury 9-7 in the match and 4-2 in shots on goal. It was the seventh goal in Kephart’s career. ESU hosts Maryville for Opening Day at the ESU Pitch on Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
