Pickleball continues to be the sensation sweeping the nation in terms of the sports world and also when it comes to charitable endeavors.
A case in point is the turnout for the second annual Pickle for a Purpose pickleball tournament benefiting the JuneBug Foundation, held at the Reeble Courts at Champions Landing Saturday. A total of just over 60 people turned out for the event that included three levels of play, according to organizer Brooke Wilson, who spoke with KVOE News during the tournament.
Wilson, an oncology-certified registered nurse with Central Care Cancer Center, said the turnout was more than double the turnout for the inaugural event last year, saying it is “so wonderful” to see the amount of support for their work and the patients and patient families they care for each day.
As mentioned, all proceeds will go to support the JuneBug Foundation, which is dedicated to helping ease some of the burden placed on families and patients as they face what many would consider one of the greatest “burdens” anyone can have in their lives.
