Logan Avenue Elementary’s future will be the only topic of discussion for the USD 253 Board of Education on Wednesday.
The board has a special meeting at a special time, 5:30 pm, and the only item of note is a public hearing regarding the possible closure of Logan Avenue. The proposed closure is the centerpiece of the district’s cost containment process due to the better than $1.4 million in cost savings out of nearly $5 million in cuts needed to meet district budget goals. The board tentatively approved the closure in April, but a protest petition triggered a review by the Kansas State Department of Education that ultimately supported the district’s initial decision.
The meeting is at Mary Herbert Education Center.
