Formal charges are filed and court processes have begun in a Lyon County attempted murder case.
Marisol Alcala Alpolinar was charged last week with one count of attempted 1st-degree murder after the alleged cutting of Maria Alcala on August 21. She has also been charged with 3 counts of aggravated battery, 2 counts of criminal threat and 1 of battery.
Rick Meier was appointed as defense counsel after the original defense attorney, Ty Wheeler of Kansas Legal Services, mentioned a conflict. A preliminary hearing is tentatively set for September 30, but prosecutors have asked for a continuance due to schedule conflicts.
