Two people have been arrested as part of an Emporia Police investigation into alleged cruelty against over 40 animals.
The Police Department says officers and Animal Control handled a search warrant at 621 Lakeview Lot 14 on Wednesday morning. The investigation led to 10 cats and 31 dogs being removed from what the department calls unsanitary and unhealthy conditions.
Matthew Carver, age 44, and Sarah Carer, age 37, were arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty and neglect. Formal charges have not been filed.
Officer are thanking the Lyon County Sheriff’s Animal Control unit and Prairie Paws Animal Shelter for their help with the investigation and immediate animal care as this investigation continues.
