Emporia High tennis opened a new season in the hot and wind on Thursday with the Emporia Invite.
Izabella Hinst finished 3-1 at number one singles. Hinst took home second at the meet. She was happy with her performance but knows there is room for improvement.
In number one doubles, Chelsea Mendez and Alexa Tovar went 1-3 for third place. Landon Werly went 2-2 in number two singles while taking third.
Head coach Saul Trujillo said it was good to get the first competition out of the way.
The Lady Spartans head to the Spring Hill Quad next Thursday.
