The Emporia State volleyball team opened the Sioux Falls Tournament with a win over the host Panthers in five sets on Thursday. ESU came from behind for a 25-21, 21-25, 20-25, 25-13, 15-13 thriller at the Stewart Center in Sioux Falls, S. D. Both teams hit over .250 in the first set as ESU notched a tight win, but the Panthers shutdown the Lady Hornet offense to take the next two sets. ESU had their best set of the match hitting .364 in the fourth to force the final set. The fifth set was tight with neither team leading by more than two, but E-State ended the match with a 5-2 run. Piper Bahr led the offense with 20 kills while Brailee Bogle ran the offense with 49 assists and 14 digs. Delainee Dexter added 13 kills with 11 digs while Lavra Krizanic also had a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs. Miyu Tsurumaki led the defense with 24 digs. ESU (4-1) plays two matches Friday starting with UMary at 10:00 a.m.
