An investigation continues after a vehicle fire was reported in north central Emporia on Wednesday.
Emporia Fire was toned out to the north side Hillcrest Apartments, 400 West 15th, just after 7:30 am. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage says an Emporia Public Works trash truck and a dumpster were on fire when firefighters arrived. Both fires were put out quickly.
Public Works Sanitation Supervisor Tina Weeks tells KVOE News the truck was in the process of loading the dumpster when the fire erupted. At this time, it’s not clear what caused the fire or whether it developed in the truck or the dumpster. Weeks says the truck had no signs of damage, while there was notable fire damage to the dumpster.
No injuries were reported.
