After recently receiving grant funds to help install more smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in Emporia homes, Emporia Fire is getting more grant funding for a different purpose.
Emporia Fire is receiving a $5,000 Working Here Fund grant from Frontier Farm Credit. The purpose: preparations for farm machinery rescues. With the funds, Emporia Fire can buy a Black Box Machinery Rescue Simulator with specialized attachments. This will help with training focused on securing equipment, controlling hazards and protecting anybody injured as part of a rescue.
Emporia Fire plans to offer training opportunities to neighboring fire departments once the equipment is in hand.
This follows a $5,000 grant from the Kansas Masonic Foundation announced late last month.
