The Emporia State volleyball team finished the MIAA-GAC Crossover undefeated by going 2-0 to wrap up their trip to Oklahoma on Friday. ESU came back with three-straight sets to beat Southern Nazarene 20-25, 25-13, 27-25, 25-14. The Crimson Storm came out hot to start the match hitting .338 in the first set, but ESU turned it around limiting SNU to just .038 hitting in the second set while hitting .300 themselves. The third set was a barn-burner with neither team holding a lead of more than four points, but the Lady Hornets took control with a 6-1 run to go in front 21-18 in the frame. SNU roared back with five of the next six points as the teams traded blows until ESU scored three-straight to win the set. The Black & Gold started the fourth set on a 6-1 run and later used an 11-0 run to put the match out of reach with a commanding 17-4 lead. Lavra Krizanic hit .415 with 19 kills and 13 digs to pick up another double-double with four blocks. Jade Xu chipped in 10 kills while hitting .409 while Miyu Tsurumaki had a season-high 28 digs.
E-State wrapped up the event by sweeping East Central 25-15, 25-16, 29-27. The Tigers provided little resistance in the first two sets with a negative hitting percentage in both frames. ECU outhit the Lady Hornets in the third but ESU out-aced the Tigers 7-1. ESU used a 5-0 run to get back in the frame before saving three set points on the way to the win. Krizanic had another monster match with 21 kills hitting .415 while Tsurumaki dug 23 more balls. ESU (12-1) opens MIAA play on the road Friday, September 18 facing Pittsburg State.
