On a two-match losing streak and playing on Emporia High’s field due to standing water at the ESU Pitch, the Emporia State soccer team needed something good to happen on Friday afternoon hosting Colorado State-Pueblo. ESU was down 1-0 with just minutes in front of halftime but Leah Oldham found the back of the net to tie the game. ESU scored again less than five minutes later to start the second half and didn’t look back in a 4-1 rout of the ThunderWolves. Peyton Pipes tallied the first goal of the second half and Ella Favot scored less than 10 minutes later before notching her third goal of the year less than 10 minutes after that. Like they had in their losses, the Lady Hornets dominated possession outshooting Pueblo 18-8 and 13-6 in shots on goal while taking seven corner kicks and allowing just one. ESU (2-2-1) wraps up non-conference play Oklahoma Baptist on Monday, September 14 at 1:00 p.m.
