Nobody was hurt, but a semi was heavily damaged after a fire broke out southwest of Emporia on Saturday afternoon.
The semi was northbound on the Kansas Turnpike when the fire started developing around 4:20 pm. Emporia Fire says there was notable fire in the cab that extended to the trailer.
The semi was hauling food products.
One lane has been blocked as the cleanup continues. Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and Turnpike Authority maintenance workers are on scene as of 7 pm.
