The Emporia State soccer team came within 11 seconds of a shutout win in their MIAA opener last Friday. On Sunday they did get the shutout to the finish line blanking Fort Hays State 3-0. ESU outshot the Tigers 17-11 in the match. Avery Zimmerman scored six minutes into the contest and Ella Favot found of the back of the net 27 seconds later. She later scored her fifth goal of the year with less than 10 minutes to play. Following back-to-back losses, the Lady Hornets have won four in a row and have outscored their opponents a combined 15-3 over the span. ESU (5-2-1, 2-0 MIAA) begins a three-game road trip on Sunday, September 27 at Northeastern State.
