Supplies are starting to run low at the Salvation Army food pantry. In fact, Captain Mylie Hadden says that’s an understatement.
Hadden says needs are pretty much across the board now.
Rice, crackers, helper meals and other items are also needed.
Hadden has been buying food to keep supplies from going completely bare. She says the pantry has had consistent demand through the summer, and the Salvation Army operation is seeing increased demand for other needs — notably rent and utility assistance — with food prices now constantly increasing, gas prices now above $4 a gallon and diesel approaching $6.25 locally.
KVOE’s annual Drive for Food is a month away — October 22, to be exact. KVOE is now taking addresses for pickup that morning. To participate and donate food, call 620-342-1400, email kvoe@kvoe.com or message the KVOE Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply text line at 620-342-5863 with your address. After that, put your donation near your mailbox and KVOE staffers and volunteers will collect your nonperishable items.
