There are a lot of home repairs underway across Emporia.
Monday’s report on building permits from Emporia Building and Neighborhood Development shows almost $1.4 million in total valuation involving over 100 “strip and reroof” projects across Emporia. Individual projects range in value from $3,500 to over $60,000.
This follows over $500,000 in strip-and-reroof building permits approved for the week of Sept. 5-11 and nearly $600,000 in similar permits approved for the week of August 22-31.
The reasons behind these permits are not listed, but many are likely due to the August 5 hailstorm that severely damaged roofs, totaled out vehicles and stripped trees of both bark and limbs.
