The Emporia State softball program started their 45-day fall practice period this week with one very noticeable addition at the Trusler Sports Complex – a brand new FieldTurf playing surface. The field, formerly known as Turnbull Field, will now be called Preston Field thanks to a donation from the William and Aloha Preston Family Trust. Head coach Megan Hill, set to enter her second season as the head coach and first as the full-time coach after the interim tag was lifted from her late last season, says the addition is a big one for her program.
Emporia State begins their fall schedule by hosting Allen County Community College on Friday, October 2 at 5:00 p.m. for ESU Softball Family Weekend. They also play home games against Hutchinson CC on October 9 and NOC-Tonkawa on October 13 also starting at 5:00 p.m. E-State wraps up the fall with Alumni Weekend on October 24 against Johnson County at 12:00 p.m. The Lady Hornets will also play at Wichita State on October 11 at the under-renovation Wilkins Stadium with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m.
