The only thing more consistent than the quality breakfast the Sertoma Club of Emporia provides each year is the growth the event continues to see year after year.
According to Sertoma Club Scholarship Breakfast Fundraiser Chair Vicki Brooks, this year’s event, held Saturday at the Emporia Senior Center, may well have been their largest to date.
This statement has become a common refrain during the event over the last several years, with Brooks noting they continue to see more and more traffic even 17 years into the fundraiser. What is leading to that notable growth? Well, Brooks noted the fundraiser is affectionately known for having “The best breakfast in town,” and she thinks the turnout proves that statement is more than just a boast.
In addition to Setorma Club members, assistance Saturday was provided by several organizations, including Emporia State University student athletes, the Circle K Club and Emporia’s Spangle’s location, which provided the eggs for the all-you-can-eat affair. Proceeds from the event will, as always, go to support scholarships for students at Emporia State and Flint Hills Technical College.
