It is the opinion of Democratic Candidate Chris Mann that voters are tired of “politics as it is” and ready for a change.
Mann shared this thought with residents and KVOE News during a fundraiser in Emporia supporting his campaign for Attorney General Monday evening. With just over 30 days remaining before the general election, Mann says he and his campaign have been “corner to corner” across Kansas, where he says voters have shared their fatigue with current politics and expressed a desire to see “A public servant” in office.
Mann, a former police officer, prosecutor and victim advocate, says that desire is what makes him, in his opinion, the ideal candidate for the role.
In looking at the most pressing concerns facing the state, Mann says two items stick out heavily, the first being the “underfunding” of law enforcement. According to Mann, current statistics show that roughly 70 percent of agencies throughout the state are operating with 10 or fewer officers, with the majority operating with five or fewer.
Saying the AG’s office and Kansas Bureau of Investigation are meant to act as the “backstop” for these agencies, he believes that obligation is not currently being met at an efficient level. He adds that this is not just his opinion.
The other glaring issue, according to Mann, is the always-prevalent issue of consumer fraud.
The 2026 general election will be a rematch between Mann and Republican incumbent Kris Kobach, who narrowly claimed the seat by a final margin of 1.6 percent back in 2022.
