It turns out that Stars and Steaks and the Silver Screen was a big hit Saturday evening.
The Emporia Senior Center was a busy place as people grilled their own steaks and enjoyed the 1950s atmosphere before settling in to watch the movie “Grease.” Event organizer Sonia Hodges tells KVOE News it helped to introduce people to the Senior Center who haven’t used its services before.
Hodges was also pleased to get the word out about the endowed operations fund that will benefit from all the event proceeds.
Initially, organizers were planning for around 60 guests. Around 100 attended.
Fundraising totals should be announced this week.
