Emporia Fire handled a small fire in an east-side apartment complex Sunday.
Fire crews were dispatched to 729 Sylvan Number 13 shortly before 1 pm. Battalion Chief Tony Fuller tells KVOE News there was smoke showing from the roof line when crews arrived on scene. Firefighters knocked down the fire quickly, but there was damage to a chair and some clothing with smoke damage throughout the apartment.
There were no injuries reported.
Firefighters evacuated the 16-unit complex, but Fuller says less than half the apartments were occupied when they arrived. The unit was occupied by Clint Hicks. The property owner is Dillon Hazlett.
The cause is officially undetermined.
