The Street Cats Club of Emporia is riding high after hitting a major milestone this past week.
As KVOE News reported this past Thursday, the local non-profit hit its 2026 goal of providing spay and neuter services to 1,000 cats in the local area. This included providing Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) services to 872 cats.
Street Cats Club Founder Victoria Partridge, a guest on KVOE’s Morning Show Monday, stated there were three main contributors to the milestone: increased need, new and growing partnerships and a passionate team of volunteers.
Speaking to the need for services, Partridge noted that when it comes to feral cats in the local area, “They are everywhere,” with the largest concentrations found in “mobile park homes and rural areas.”
Another major reason for the club’s milestone is that they have not limited themselves just to the local area, with Partridge noting that requests for services have come from near and far.
While the work done by the Street Cats Club, especially in the last year, is immense, Partridge noted it is far from inexpensive.
Two notable fundraisers are coming up for the organization starting October 17th, including the annual Black Cat Ball, which will take place inside the Emporia Granada Theatre.
Street Cats Club will also, once again, be one of the 30-plus organizations benefiting from community donations during the 13th annual Match Day coming up November 16th.
