With under a month to go before the general election, Election Office workers across Kansas have been busy getting ready for what’s ahead.
Lyon County Election Officer Amie Jones is now joining KVOE’s Morning Show weekly with updates and deadlines. As part of her visit Monday, Jones reminded residents of the vote registration deadline coming soon.
Residents can go online to the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office at sos.ks.gov or go directly to kansasvoterinfo.gov/VoterView to check their registration information and correct polling places.
Besides getting ready for the end of voter registration, Lyon County Election Office workers are also getting ready for the now-traditional offsite election event at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building from Oct. 14-17.
Offsite voting hours are 10 am to 4 pm Oct. 14, 10-6 on Oct 15, 10-4 on Oct. 16 and 9-1 on Oct. 17.
For Lyon County voters, in-office advance voting begins Oct. 19 and ends at noon Nov. 2. The last day to apply for a mail ballot is Oct. 27.
Jones also reminded residents, especially Emporia voters in Precincts 1, 2, 7 and 8, about a notable change in location. With the National Guard Armory set for a parking lot resurfacing project right around Election Day, around 2,600 Emporia voters will now use First United Methodist Church at 823 Merchant.
