The 2026 Flint Hills Senior Life Fair is set to be the biggest yet.
The 24th annual event, scheduled to take place Wednesday, October 21, from 8 am to 2 pm at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building, is set to host more than 40 different agencies, according to event Chair Andrea Elwood of Hand-in-Hand Hospice, covering a variety of resource matters.
The event is open to all residents in and outside of Emporia and it is not limited just to seniors, as noted by longtime organizer Jon Reed of Hometown Healthcare.
For those without transportation, Reed says the fair is teaming up with Lyon County Area Transportation (LCAT) to arrange rides to and from the event. Those interested in scheduling a ride must contact LCAT before the event to schedule a pickup.
As for the entertainment, attendees will be treated to live music courtesy of Kansas Free For Arts Director and Halfway to Everywhere Music and Arts Festival Founder Hank Osterhout. Organizer Kacie Hastings of Newman Regional Health says they are very excited for the day’s entertainment.
As always, no registration will be needed for the fair, which is free to attend. Lunch will be provided at a cost of $10 per person and pre-registration will be necessary for those planning to eat.
Organizers ask that residents planning to eat lunch register by October 16th. Registration forms can be found at the Lee Beran Recreation Center, Emporia Public Library, Lyon County Senior Center and the Newman Regional Health information desks.
