Council Grove quarterback Luke Stewart was named the KSHSAA Covered North Central Kansas Athlete of the Week on Wednesday after delivering a masterclass performance in the Braves’ 46-41 win over Marysville.
Stewart put on an absolute show through the air, completing 22 of 31 passes for 362 yards and 4 touchdowns. The monster performance came just eight yards shy of his own school record of 370 passing yards, set a season ago.
The big night also pushed the senior standout past a major career milestone, eclipse-ing 5,000 total career yards in front of the home crowd.
With Stewart leading the charge, Council Grove remains perfect on the season at 5-0 and holds the No. 3 spot in the latest Kansas Football Coaches Association Class 2A rankings.
