Emporia State Athletic Bands brought numerous high schools to Welch Stadium for the annual ESU Marching Festival on Wednesday.
Nearly 20 bands participated, including the Emporia High School Spartan Pride in the Black Division — as heard — along with Burlington and Osage City in the White Division from the KVOE listening area. Emporia High took 3rd in the Black Division, with Bishop Carroll taking 1st and Pratt finishing 2nd. In the White Division, Osage City was 2nd and Burlington took 3rd; Osage City also claimed the Outstanding Music award in the division. Goddard took the Gold Division, followed by Mill Valley and Free State.
