The Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas meets early Friday to discuss a range of economic development topics.
Board members will get an update on the ongoing Railroad Corridor Safety Improvement process after public meetings Wednesday and Thursday.
Following that discussion, board members will discuss a funding agreement and will get a status report on opportunity zones.
Board members will also get an update on the search for a permanent president. That search has revived over the last 2 months after the City of Emporia ended its efforts to develop the Flint Hills Economic Alliance, which had been planned as a consortium of Emporia’s economic development groups with additional representation from the city, Lyon County, Emporia State University and Flint Hills Technical College with the RDA as the lead agency. The permanent position has been open since Chuck Scott resigned in early 2024.
Friday’s meeting begins at 7:30 am at the Trusler Business Center.
