The Emporia High soccer team secured a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over Republic (MO) at the MoKan Showcase held at KC Current Riverside Stadium in Riverside, Missouri on Saturday.
After falling behind early, the Spartans regrouped midway through the first half when Brayden Sailer netted the equalizer to knot the match at 1-1. EHS maintained steady pressure into the second half and claimed their first lead of the game with 20 minutes remaining on a goal by Cole Faulkner.
The Black and Red have won three straight matches and improve to 10-2 overall. Centennial League play resumes on Tuesday with Washburn Rural in Emporia.
