Multiple agencies responded to a vehicle accident and brush fire in the same vicinity in north Lyon County late Monday afternoon.
According to Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch, Lyon County Deputies and Fire/EMS were called to the 1300 block of US Highway 56, east of Allen, just after 3 pm. Shortly after, fire crews from Allen/Admire, Reading and Miller were called to the same area for a brush fire near structures.
The fire was extinguished quickly and no damage to any structures was reported. As for the accident, word on injuries is pending; however, Koelsch told KVOE News a LifeFlight helicopter was called to the scene, although he could not confirm if any transports occurred.
Deputies also could not confirm if the fire and vehicle accident were related; however, Koelsch says the individual who reported the crash noted there was smoke coming from the vehicle.
The Kansas Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. Additional details are currently pending.
