Newman Regional Health is asking residents to take part in a community survey designed to help “shape the future” of local healthcare.
The hospital is expanding its medical offerings as part of the Rural Health Transformation Program, focusing its investments on providers, technology and partnerships to help augment a range of medical services — emergency, inpatient, maternity, surgical, primary and specialty care. Director of Marketing & Public Relations Kacie Hastings:
Chief Nursing Officer Heather Aylward says the survey can help Newman Regional Health add medical services as the Rural Health Transformation process continues.
The survey, available here, asks questions about quality, trust, community connections, barriers to healthcare, why people choose healthcare providers and why residents go certain places for care. Community members do not have to be hospital patients to take part.
The survey begins as Newman Regional Health gets ready for its annual Wave of Light ceremony honoring families dealing with infant and pregnancy loss. Aylward says it’s a gut-wrenching time for parents, with as many as 25 percent of parents going through that level of grief, but it’s also painful for the nursing staff.
Hastings says the ceremony is short but impactful.
The event begins at 6:45 pm Thursday with a program at C of E Park. A special candle-lighting ceremony follows at 7 pm. In case of rain, the event will move to the hospital’s Entrance C. More information is available at newmanrh.org/waveoflight.
