Turnout for the first day of off-site advanced voting was strong, according to Lyon County Election Officer Amy Jones Wednesday afternoon.
For comparison, Jones says this year’s day one numbers were over 70 more than the day one turnout for the last gubenatorial election back in 2022, but still well below the 2024 Presidential election. Jones tells KVOE News the number of special questions on the ballot is no doubt playing a role in the turnout and she expects it will continue through the remainder of the off-site voting period.
For those planning to vote at the Anderson Building, Jones ran through the checklist of what they will need and how the process will unfold.
Advance off-site voting will continue through Saturday afternoon with hours being 10 am to 6 pm Thursday and Friday and 9 am to 1 pm Saturday. Once the off-site voting window ends, in-office advance voting will begin next week inside of the Lyon County Clerk’s Office in the Lyon County Courthouse during normal business hours.
The General Election is Tuesday, November 3rd, with polls opening at 7 am and closing at 7 pm. KVOE News will have live election night coverage beginning shortly after the polls close on KVOE 1400 am, 96.9 FM, and KVOE.com.
