Emporia High football returns home for Week Seven, hosting Field Kindley Friday night at Welch Stadium.
The Spartans are looking to snap a four-game losing streak after most recently falling to Manhattan, 51-6. The Tornados enter the matchup with a lengthy losing streak of their own, having lost 20 straight games dating back to Week Five of the 2024 season.
Head coach Daniel Goodman knew coming into the season that the four-game stretch Emporia just completed would be the toughest part of the schedule.
Last season, EHS dominated this matchup, rolling to a 50-0 victory in Coffeyville. The Spartan offense will look to find its rhythm again after scoring just one touchdown in each of the last three weeks.
Sophomore quarterback Cael Claibourn expects the offense to have more success moving the football against the Tornados.
Claibourn also emphasized that there is still plenty to play for over the final two weeks of the regular season. With two wins to close out the year, the Black and Red could earn the opportunity to host a playoff game.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday night at Welch Stadium, with the RV Doc Pregame Show getting underway at 6:45.
