Advance voting is now at moderate levels in Lyon County.
Lyon County Election Officer Amie Jones says over 400 voters went to the Fairgrounds Anderson Building to cast their ballots Thursday, putting the offsite total at 679 or 3 percent of Lyon County’s registered total. Almost 600 ballots have been mailed to Lyon County voters so far. There have also been 20 ballots sent to overseas citizens. Eight ballots are listed as provisionals as voting starts Friday.
Offsite voting continues at the Fairgrounds from 10 am to 4 pm Friday, ending from 9 am to 1 pm Saturday. In-person voting begins at 8 am Monday at the Lyon County Courthouse and continues until noon Nov. 2.
Residents wanting to vote by mail can still request a ballot through Oct. 27. There is currently a 3-day grace period for those ballots to return to election offices after Nov. 3, but several cases are still working through court reviews so voters are urged to get their ballots in no later than Election Day to avoid any issues.
