The annual KVOE Drive for Food is coming Thursday and the need for donations remains great, according to Salvation Army Captain Mylie Hadden on KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Tuesday morning.
Hadden says the ever-rising cost of living is serving as the largest contributing factor to the need for food.
For those planning to donate and wondering what items are best to provide, Hadden says they are in need of “everything.”
In addition to the Salvation Army, the Drive for Food will also once again benefit the Emporia Spartan Stop food distribution program at Emporia High School. The Drive for Food will begin just after 9 am Thursday, with several locations and businesses once again stepping up to lend support to the cause.
KVOE General Manager Ron Thomas ran through the list of supporters during KVOE’s Morning Show Tuesday.
KVOE is still taking addresses for pickup Thursday. To participate and donate food, call 620-342-1400, email kvoe@kvoe.com, or text your address to the KVOE Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply text line at 620-342-5863. Then place your donation near your mailbox, and KVOE staffers and volunteers will collect your nonperishable items.
