A boil water advisory has been rescinded for one north Lyon County community, but continues for another.
According to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment in a news release Tuesday, the city of Allen has been removed from a boil water advisory originally issued this past Wednesday. The advisory was issued for both Admire and Allen and at this time Admire remains in the advisory.
Residents were asked to boil water after a loss of chlorine residuals, which increased the risk of bacterial contamination. According to KDHE, samples from the city of Allen sent to the KDHE labs in Topeka showed no signs of contamination.
Word on test results from Admire’s water supply is currently pending; however, Mayor Ron Smith told KVOE News the samples had been collected and sent off to the KDHE labs shortly after the advisory was issued.
