Emporia State linebacker Jake Tucker has been selected as the D2Football.com National Defensive Player of the Week. In his first career start for the Hornets, Tucker had career highs of 8 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, 1.5 Sacks, forced a fumble, and blocked a punt to help the Hornets knock off Central Oklahoma 23-16 last week. It is the third national award won by a Hornet this year after Landon Boss won national awards from College Football Network earlier this year. Tucker was named this week’s MIAA Defensive Player of the Week and the Hornets have won the weekly conference award all but one week this season. ESU hosts Central Missouri for Homecoming at 7:00 p.m. Saturday. Coverage begins at 6:00 p.m. on Mix 104.9.
