The No. 8 Emporia State football team swept the MIAA Football weekly awards after a 58-38 homecoming win over Central Missouri last week. Quarterback Jamison Sarver picked up the Offensive Player of the Week Award after passing for 304 yards and four touchdowns, his second weekly award of the season. Safety Clem McCullough was named the Defensive Player of the Week after leading ESU in tackles and picking off two Mule passes while running one back over 100 yards for a touchdown. The Hornets are the only school in the MIAA with two 100-yard interceptions in their history. Corey Turner II is the Special Teams Player of the Week after he returned the opening kickoff of the third quarter 91 yards for a touchdown. Turner is the first Hornet to take a kickoff the distance since 2014. ESU is the first team to sweep the weekly awards since 2019 and it’s the first time the Black & Gold has done it since 2018. The Hornets return to action Saturday when they face No. 11 Northwest Missouri on the road. Coverage begins at 1:00 p.m. on Mix 104.9.
