An early morning accident on Interstate 35 sent one person to the hospital Wednesday.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at I-35 mile marker 120.2 northbound just before 1 am. KHP says a 2010 Honda Accord, driven by 22-year-old Ryzell Schmidt of Wichita, was traveling in the area when he lost control of the vehicle for unlisted reasons.
The Accord then left the roadway and struck a culvert. Schmidt was taken to Newman Regional Health from the scene of the accident with suspected serious injuries.
He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
