The Emporia State soccer team is the No. 5 seed for the upcoming MIAA Soccer Tournament. The conference cut to the top eight for the postseason and the first round is hosted by higher seeded teams in the first round before the semifinals transition to the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kan. beginning on Friday, Nov. 6 with the championship two days later. Washburn is the top seed and won the MIAA title with a 9-1-2 record despite Central Missouri and Pittsburg State both going undefeated in conference play. The Lady Hornets draw Central Oklahoma in the first round on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Bronchos won the first matchup 1-0 in Edmond, Okla. earlier this month. ESU is 0-4-4 on the road this year and head coach Jane Grimley-Gunn knows ESU will have to find a road win to progress this weekend.
If victorious, ESU would play the winner of top seed Washburn or No. 8 seed Northeastern State in the semifinals.
