Southwick House held its opening kick-off event at Middle Ground Books and Gifts Wednesday afternoon, just a couple of months ahead of its projected grand opening date at the organization’s new building on East Logan Ave.
A nonprofit that provides transitional housing for families in need, the organization’s new building will provide up to 42 beds for people in the area.
Wednesday’s event, executive director Cara Codney said, was a way to let people in the community know what the organization still needs before opening day.
A fundraising effort that has been years in the making, Codney said it feels exciting to finally be this close to opening the doors on Southwick House’s new location, especially when considering the organization’s current location.
As someone who joined the team in March, Codney said she’s thrilled to celebrate the hard work of her peers while continuing her own to provide a much-needed resource to those in need.
For people who are interested in donating to Southwick House, Codney said there are a few ways to get involved.
Southwick House’s newest location is set to open in January. For more information, visit https://www.southwickhouse.org/.
