Brett Yormark will step down as Big 12 Commissioner by January. ESPN reports that Yormark will take a role outside of collegiate athletics in his next endeavor. He had been the leader of the league since 2022. KU chancellor Douglas Girod told ESPN that Yormark is planning to stay through January to assist with a transition for his replacement who will be the sixth leader of the league. He helped to maneuver the Big 12 early on to land what was considered a strong TV deal with ESPN & Fox while the Pac-12 faltered and eventually splintered. He added Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah following that league’s fallout. The league will launch a national search for Yormark’s replacement.
