Advance voting concludes Monday and thus far, Lyon County has seen a strong turnout for the 2026 general election.
As of Friday, 14 percent of the county’s registered voters have cast their ballots, which translates to just over 2,900 individuals. Friday, which was the final full day of advance voting in the Lyon County Clerk’s Office, saw the largest turnout for the in-office advance voting with 333 individuals casting their ballots.
Of the 696 mail ballots sent out, 482 have been returned thus far. A reminder: while the three-day grace period for mail ballots is still in effect, several legal cases are working their way through the court system and so Lyon County Election Officer Amie Jones and other officials are advising residents not to rely on it.
Instead, she says residents should plan to have their ballots returned ahead of or on Election Day, noting they can drop those off at the county drop box, in the Lyon County Election Office, or at their local polling site. Advance voting inside the Lyon County Courthouse will conclude Monday with hours of 8 am to noon.
The general election is Tuesday, with polls opening at 7 am and closing at 7 pm. Be sure to tune in to KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media for live election night coverage starting shortly after the polls close.
