Emporia State University’s Peterson Planetarium will be taking visitors on a Never-Ending Journey through the month of November.
On KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment Wednesday, Peterson Planetarium Director Mark Brown announced the presentation of Voyager: The Never-Ending Journey, which tells the story of the better-than-16-billion-mile journey that began nearly five decades ago when the twin Voyager spacecraft had their historic encounters with Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune as part of their mission into interstellar space.
Brown stated in his interview with KVOE News Wednesday morning that this is not a new program for the planetarium, but rather a return.
Brown says the presentation comes as the Voyager craft is set to hit an unprecedented milestone on November 18th.
The planetarium will show the presentation six times, starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Additional show times are:
Thursday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 12 at 4 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m.
Before each showing, Brown will lead a night sky presentation introducing attendees to the stars, constellations, and planets over the city of Emporia. Tickets for the presentations are free and open to the public; however, space is limited, so those wishing to attend are asked to register online at Emporia.edu.
