Lyon County Commissioners have amended the 2026 budget.
The amendment came through unanimous approval by commissioners during their regular action meeting Thursday morning. County Controller Dan Williams presented the item, which saw the multi-year fund go from just over $3.6 million to just over $4.5 million, while the Special Road and Bridge fund increased from $450,000 to $475,000.
Williams told KVOE News the multi-year budget was updated with plans to purchase new election equipment, while the road and bridge fund was updated due to inflation and the department being over budget by nearly $7,000 at this time. Williams also says there is enough unencumbered cash in county funds to accommodate both increases, with the multi-year update planned as part of the 2027 budget discussions.
In other business, commissioners approved a unit cost proposal from Kirkham Michael and Associates for bridge inspections for an estimated amount of $93,780 presented by County Engineer Wayne Scritchfield, the purchase of three 2027 Chevrolet Tahoes from Longbine Auto Plaza totaling just over $157,500 for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, and the annual AudioEye website accessibility software statement for just over $5,093 and the annual CivicPlus statement for the county’s website, SSL management, and hosting security fee for just over $9,600 presented by Public Relations Director Vici Smith.
Commissioners also received the quarterly update from CareArc after approving a pair of requests from Lyon County Appraiser Ryan Janzen, who sought the county’s five-year payment for the Eagleview agreement for just over $47,200 and permission to attend the 2027 IAAO GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference in Louisville, KY, February 22–25.
County commissioners will reconvene for their weekly action meeting next Thursday at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
