Trial is not coming in a Lyon County accusing drug distribution near Emporia High this past spring.
During his trial status hearing Wednesday, Kyndal Orange pleaded no contest to distributing drug paraphernalia within 1,000 feet of a school. Orange had been charged with distributing a small amount of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of Emporia High in March. Sentencing will be Nov. 20.
A separate drug distribution case in Lyon County remains on track for trial.
William David Walters’ trial status hearing Wednesday was pushed to Oct. 22, eliminating potential trial start dates of this upcoming Monday and Oct. 6. Trial could still start Oct. 27.
Walters is charged with distributing anywhere from 25-450 grams of marijuana, as well as using a cell phone to commit a felony, possessing meth and paraphernalia and criminal possession of a firearm by a felon after an alleged incident this past January.
