A GoFundMe account has been set up for a woman hurt during a workplace incident at Emporia’s Simmons Pet Food on Friday.
According to the “Support Kristina’s Recovery” page, Kristina Bush had a system malfunction, leading to boiling hot water spraying over her. Bush’s husband, Matthew, has told KVOE News Bush had the boiling water sprayed over 50 percent of her body, with skin loss nearly 25 percent.
As of early Monday, almost $1,400 had been raised towards a goal of $2,400. Proceeds from the GoFundMe account will help to cover monthly bills and travel expenses for upcoming treatments.

Bush was hurt early Friday evening, with Emporia Fire/EMS responding around 6:15 pm. A LifeSave helicopter took her to an unlisted hospital for treatment afterwards. Senior Director of Communications Augusta Branham says Simmons is investigating the incident and team member safety is the company’s highest priority.
Fox has said the incident happened at the Warren Way facility. Simmons has not confirmed the location. The East Logan Avenue facility was closed for the Memorial Day weekend due to an unrelated, previously-scheduled maintenance process.
